Commercial Use AI Voice: Licensing, Legal Rights, and Best Practices
What is Commercial Use of AI Voice?
Commercial use of AI voice refers to using AI-generated speech in products, services, or content that generates revenue or business value. This includes YouTube ads, paid courses, commercial audiobooks, marketing videos, IVR systems, and any content where you monetize the audio output. Understanding licensing is crucial to avoid legal issues.
MorVoice Commercial Licensing Model
MorVoice grants full commercial rights to all audio generated with paid plans (Creator, Professional, Business, Enterprise). This means you can: use audio in YouTube videos with ads, sell courses/audiobooks containing AI voices, use in commercial products and apps, create brand advertisements, and license the audio to clients. Free tier is personal/non-commercial use only.
Voice Cloning and Consent Requirements
When cloning voices commercially, explicit written consent is legally required. You can clone your own voice freely. For others' voices, you MUST obtain signed consent forms. MorVoice provides consent verification tools and prohibits unauthorized cloning to comply with right of publicity laws and prevent deepfakes.
Copyright and Ownership
Users retain full ownership and copyright of the AI-generated audio. MorVoice does not claim rights to your output. However, the underlying AI models are proprietary. You cannot: reverse-engineer the model, create competing TTS services, or claim the technology as your own. This follows industry-standard practices from OpenAI, Google, and other AI providers.
Ethical Use and Disclosure
While not always legally required, best practices recommend disclosing AI-generated content to audiences. Many platforms (YouTube, TikTok) now have AI disclosure policies. MorVoice embeds optional acoustic watermarks in audio for origin verification, helping combat misinformation and deepfake concerns while maintaining audio quality.
